Week 44

Heyyo! We have 3 people on date to be baptized! I have had a baptism in over a transfer, so this is pretty exciting! Here's a little run down of our current friends:

Wilow! She is so awesome and I have grown to love her. Each time we come to visit with her and her family it starts off really quiet, but by the time we leave they are all so talkative and laughing, it's hard to leave!

Katelyn! We have been visiting Katelyn every single Sunday and we have built a really good relationship with her:) she doesn't leave the house much and she said that we are her only friends and she always looks forward to our Sunday visits:) she also said that she wants us to stay in contact after our missions. She has been through a lot in the past few years, and it's cool to just listen to her experiences and stories. I also finally got a selfie with her after 3 months of meeting with her haha. She's the gal with the red hair. I'm gonna miss Katelyn when I leave this area.
Brian! He has some of the deepest best questions I have gotten on the mission so far. He is a true seeker when it comes to learning about new things. We've been meeting with him occasionally (he's really busy) and he told us that he has been consistently praying to know if the book of Mormon is true and if Joseph Smith was a true prophet, but he said he hasn't gotten an answer yet. So please keep Brian in y'all's prayers that he can receive a confirmation and also have the motivation to come to church. He doesn't really get to sleep during the week, so he sleeps on the weekends which is why he hasn't come to church. I want him to come so bad tho. He has so much potential!

Casie! She wants to be baptized on December 3rd (happy birthday dad!) but the only things keeping her from progressing are transportation and divorce paperwork. So prayers for that would be much appreciated! Her testimony is so strong and her life stories blow me out of the water. She has gone through so much and never blames anyone. She forgives people who have messed up her life, she turns to God when things get too hard to handle and she ALWAYS has a smile on her face. Casie is an angel.
That isn't everyone, but those are some I am most excited about!

Other big events from this week: zone conference and MY BIRTHDAY!
My birthday was on Saturday and it was a good day! We went and did service for Sandra for about 2 hours, then we went and got milkshakes. We went and contacted some people and everyone was home! That usually never happens, so it made me happy. For dinner we went to Katherine Hobbs house and she made the BEST lemon poppyseed cake everrrr! It was so fun to be with them!

Prayer Role:
Brian --> pray that he can have his prayers answered and want to come to church/have the motivation to sacrifice that time.
Sandra--> Pray that she can recognize the truthfulness of our messages and recognize the familiar "ring" of the gospel.
Katelyn--> pray that she can come to know that the book of Mormon is true.
Wilow--> pray that she can hold on to the desire to be baptized and also pray that her dad can make it home on the 19th so we can have the baptism.
Casie--> pray that her divorce paperwork can be figured out quickly and that she can understand our lessons.

Week 40

Not a lot happened this week, but it was supposed to be transfers, except for that I'm staying!! Side note, Sister Garbett's new companion (named sister Phillips) is SO awesome!! We actually have a lot in common and we have mutual friends from BYU and high school! Our little sisters are also so similar which is crazy, we both pulled up a picture and their outfits were almost the same hahaha.  But anyways, here are some cool things that I learned this week: --> Always always always follow promptings (if it's a good prompting, cuz if it's good, it's from God). Promptings are gateways for God to work miracles in our lives, but we have to act first. I'm still working on that, but I've seen it give me so much more confidence in the work I'm doing cuz I know that I'm not doing it alone:) --> Make friends and don't be afraid to share the gospel. When friendship comes first, sharing the gospel is a lot easier. That's one downfall with missionar...

Week 66

Hello everyone!! Happy late Easter! I hope everyone had an amazing Sunday, cuz I sure did!! Holidays on the mission are a little hard (for me at least), but this one was actually pretty good! The church service was amazing and it was PACKED. I felt like I was back in a Utah ward because there were so many people! Here are some reasons it was a great easter: Some friends we are teaching came to church! Donna who is a somewhat lonely older lady came and wore one of sister chan's dresses and she cried during the service and even sang one of the songs, which was huge. Donna is going through a lot right now, but I think she felt a moment of peace when she was at church.  Afterwards we went to the Gildays (a member that I'm close with ) to have lunch and a little scripture study. Isabel was there and that was fun hehe her and I are crazy. I don't know if I've "introduced" Isabel, but she is 19 and was just baptized in January. She moved here and almost i...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...
