Week 68

This was a good good week! We spent a lot of time in Gainsboro which was fun! We don't get to go up there very often but I love it when we do! I didn't know if I've explained a little bit of Gainesboro, but it is a teeny tiny town about 40 minutes out of Cookeville and it's quite literally in the middle of nowhere. Everyone there is related or married. We talked to this one guy that said in high school it was really hard to meet girls because they were all cousins😂 so he jokes that he married his wife cuz it was the only girl in town that he wasn't related to 😂😂 Gainesboro has a population under 1000 and the people who live there were usually raised there. It's like one of those towns that you see in movies haha its so awesome. Sister Henry drove us up there in her old jeep and she gave us bandanas to tie our hair down😂 we went around visiting a bunch of people and there was this one lady who hasn't had contact with the church in 8 years that we stopped by and she said that she was just looking at her book of mormon the other day hoping that someone from the church would stop by soon! Ahh it was so cool!!! God's hand was definitley in that!
Gainesboro has one golden stop, The Bull and Thissle. It's a fancy restaurant that is ran by actual professional chefs and BOY it is pricy! But sister Henry and her husband took us there and it was SOOO good. I was blown away with the amount of money they spent on us, but I trust that God will bless them more than they sacrificed. I just love Gainesboro. I could NEVER live there, but I love experiencing it!
We had exchanges in lebanon again! I spent the day in lebanon with sister dalby and that was a blast! All the lessons were in Spanish, so I just sat there and smiled again😂 one lady had the CUTEST golden doodle puppy that I played with the whole time. And it was an actually clean dog! (that's a rare breed in tennessee). We also went to a Latino flea market and that was crazy haha I felt like I was in a foreign country. Also spending the day with sister dalby who is in her first transfer was a real eye opener of how fast missions go. I really don't feel much more qualified or experienced than her, but she says she can't imagine even being close to where I am. It's so weird that I am THAT old missionary. I definitely don't feel like it!
We also had an entire day to spring clean the apartment and that was honestly so theraputic. I have a new appreciation for cleaning... (I never thought I'd say that). But it was nice having a day to just clean. We also went dress shopping with isabel and that was SO FUN! I love isabel so much and I'm so excited for her to move to Utah in July!!
I'm looking forward to this coming week! Elder Neil L Anderson is coming on Saturday, so we are going to all meet in Knoxville and have him speak to us! I'm excited for that!
Ok prayer team... I need yall to pray for Sam Hancock. Pray that he will overcome his fear of change and that he can be excited for the temple. He is getting his endowment this Saturday but Satan is working hard on him. So please keep him in your prayers🙏

Week 40

Not a lot happened this week, but it was supposed to be transfers, except for that I'm staying!! Side note, Sister Garbett's new companion (named sister Phillips) is SO awesome!! We actually have a lot in common and we have mutual friends from BYU and high school! Our little sisters are also so similar which is crazy, we both pulled up a picture and their outfits were almost the same hahaha.  But anyways, here are some cool things that I learned this week: --> Always always always follow promptings (if it's a good prompting, cuz if it's good, it's from God). Promptings are gateways for God to work miracles in our lives, but we have to act first. I'm still working on that, but I've seen it give me so much more confidence in the work I'm doing cuz I know that I'm not doing it alone:) --> Make friends and don't be afraid to share the gospel. When friendship comes first, sharing the gospel is a lot easier. That's one downfall with missionar...

Week 66

Hello everyone!! Happy late Easter! I hope everyone had an amazing Sunday, cuz I sure did!! Holidays on the mission are a little hard (for me at least), but this one was actually pretty good! The church service was amazing and it was PACKED. I felt like I was back in a Utah ward because there were so many people! Here are some reasons it was a great easter: Some friends we are teaching came to church! Donna who is a somewhat lonely older lady came and wore one of sister chan's dresses and she cried during the service and even sang one of the songs, which was huge. Donna is going through a lot right now, but I think she felt a moment of peace when she was at church.  Afterwards we went to the Gildays (a member that I'm close with ) to have lunch and a little scripture study. Isabel was there and that was fun hehe her and I are crazy. I don't know if I've "introduced" Isabel, but she is 19 and was just baptized in January. She moved here and almost i...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...
