WEEK 1: Home MTC

This week went by super slowly because everything was new, but I am coming to love online MTC! Every day I have a zoom from 8:30-11:30, 12-1, and 1:30-4:30. Then I do additional zooms with my companions and district to study and discuss. So each day consists of 8-10 hours of zoom. To be honest, it sounds a lot worse than it actually is. The little breaks in between give me just enough time to reset, so they are actually really enjoyable.

The thing that has been the hardest this week is adjusting my sleep schedulešŸ˜… Going to bed early and waking up early is harder than I thought! I bobbed off in a LGM zoom on Tuesday which was embarrassing because my camera was on and there were over 300 missionaries on that zoom. I didn't know I fell asleep until my head bobbed so aggressively that it woke me up, and I had no idea how long ago I fell asleep. So now I keep mints and a water bottle with me during zooms just in case I get tired.

On the other hand, I really am enjoying the things that I am learning. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to feel the spirit or connect with people over a video call, but I was definitely wrong! On my very first day of the MTC (monday), I got to teach a lady named Elena, and I was very nervous because I had no idea what I was doing, but luckily it went well. It was over zoom, and I still felt like I connected with her well.

I am in a trio with 3 awesome sisters. Sister Miller and Sister Robbins. Sister Robbins has so much energy and loves to talk, which makes the work so much fun. Sister Miller is the sweetest, kindest and most gentle person I have ever met. Whenever she has something to share, it is always so deep and meaningful. We all have different personalities that complement each other well. We all get along really well (at least over zoom haha) and we have been working hard together. I really love being in a trio and I hope I get to have another trio when I am out in the field.

The highlight of my week was getting to know my district. I LOVE my district!! Everyone contributes something different, and we have amazing conversations. We also have had zooms where we just talk and get to know each other, and I smile the whole time because they are all so fun. Part of me wishes that I could keep this district my whole mission.

I am so grateful for online MTC. I haven't had a single negative experience with it, and I wouldn't change a thing about it. It is such a cool experience to get to be with my family too. I still have so much to learn, and although it has been very hard to drop everything and sacrifice my time, I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to do this work.

Week 40

Not a lot happened this week, but it was supposed to be transfers, except for that I'm staying!! Side note, Sister Garbett's new companion (named sister Phillips) is SO awesome!! We actually have a lot in common and we have mutual friends from BYU and high school! Our little sisters are also so similar which is crazy, we both pulled up a picture and their outfits were almost the same hahaha.  But anyways, here are some cool things that I learned this week: --> Always always always follow promptings (if it's a good prompting, cuz if it's good, it's from God). Promptings are gateways for God to work miracles in our lives, but we have to act first. I'm still working on that, but I've seen it give me so much more confidence in the work I'm doing cuz I know that I'm not doing it alone:) --> Make friends and don't be afraid to share the gospel. When friendship comes first, sharing the gospel is a lot easier. That's one downfall with missionar...

Week 66

Hello everyone!! Happy late Easter! I hope everyone had an amazing Sunday, cuz I sure did!! Holidays on the mission are a little hard (for me at least), but this one was actually pretty good! The church service was amazing and it was PACKED. I felt like I was back in a Utah ward because there were so many people! Here are some reasons it was a great easter: Some friends we are teaching came to church! Donna who is a somewhat lonely older lady came and wore one of sister chan's dresses and she cried during the service and even sang one of the songs, which was huge. Donna is going through a lot right now, but I think she felt a moment of peace when she was at church.  Afterwards we went to the Gildays (a member that I'm close with ) to have lunch and a little scripture study. Isabel was there and that was fun hehe her and I are crazy. I don't know if I've "introduced" Isabel, but she is 19 and was just baptized in January. She moved here and almost i...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...
