WEEK 7: Crossville, TN

This week was a little rough numbers wise, but I still enjoyed it!

To start, I deep cleaned the bathroom cuz i had some extra time, and little did I know that I have literally been showering in mold... i thought the rubber tips of the shower head were black.. nope. They are supposed to be gray. I'll attach the before and after picture cuz my comp and I were in shock. It was soooo gross!

We visited a lot of people this week, and I can't tell you how many times I've been teased because I take off my shoes in people's houses. In Tennessee, if you take off your shoes, it's like you own the place. We visited a 95 year old lady in a trailer home, and it was a very clean tidy trailer home. So I took off my shoes. When I sat down, this old old lady looked at my socks and started laughing and said "why'd ya take off your shoes darlin?? Ain't no one do that here, where you from?"😂 mom, you've trained me wrong haha. At the Doneys (members who feed us every week) they always tease me as the greenie that takes off her shoes😂 so I'm trying to untrain myself to keep my shoes on when I go into people's houses haha.

Oh this was a little sketchy. The other night, there was a loudish sound during the night that woke up my companion. She said that she could hear 2 male voices outside the apartment. She wasn't sure what woke her up, but she was to afraid to go check it out. So in the morning when she went out into the living room area, the front door was OPEN. the apartment was pretty chilly, meaning the door had been open for a while. Our door has the ghetto blinds that swing very loudly when the door opens and closes, so my guess what someone opened the door, it was really loud, and it woke up my companion. Then whoever it was didn't want to close the door cuz it would be just as loud, so they just left the door open/unlatched. We searched everything and we didn't see that anything was stolen, and we wondered how. My wallet was on my desk, but it was still there. We are convinced that it was the Jesus mural wall that changed the person's mind cuz it's the first thing you see when you walk into the apartment haha. We have been sure to triple check that the door is locked since then.

But we are safe and it is all good:)

I extended my very first baptismal invitation this week to Antoinette, and it went well. I spoke confidently yet lovingly, but she was still confused about being baptized a second time, so we are meeting with her tomorrow to talk more about it. Dustin, the 19yr old that was going to be baptized next month, has gone downhill fast. He has been coming to church with us every week, but this week was rough. He has started heavily smoking, and he's always on so many drugs that he can't ever remember what we taught him. He got really angry at me at church (I didn't do anything, he was just so fogged by the drugs that he couldn't function) and he raged and kinda cornered me which was actually kinda scary cuz he's a big boy. So we are very sad about him cuz we thought he was ready for baptism, but clearly he's not. So we have to remove him from date and help him to straighten out his actions before we can teach the gospel. He also said to the elders that he doesn't remember anything that we have taught him... this was really disappointing cuz he's been being taught for months. So we are still trying to figure out what to do.

Sunday night we called like 9 people, and 7 of the numbers had us blocked, so that was neat haha.

But that was the majority of the week, and hopefully next week improves!

Week 73

Wow this was a fast week... It's getting real yall. It was a really good week tho! Zone Conference! My very last zone conference😢 I gave my departing testimony and it was weird to be on that side of it because my whole mission I've been watching other missionaries give their departing testimonies and now all of a sudden it was me! But it was a really spiritual experience and I loved it. The rest of this week was super duper good! Lots of small miracles that lifted my spirits. We are finding quite a few new people to teach and I'm actually really excited about them! There was this one guy we talked to on his porch in passing, and we invited him to church, but then the phone number he gave us didn't work. BUT he showed up to church 6 days later!! I gave a talk in sacrament and after the meeting he asked if he could have a book of mormon 😱 his name is James and he is so cool!! We also prayed really hard on Friday that we could plant a lot of seeds...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...

WEEK 6: Crossville, TN

This week flew by, which I guess is a good thing! To jump right into things, we are teaching quite a few people right now, and I can see 3 of them being baptized by the end of this transfer. I've been praying so hard about it, because I have developed such a strong love for them individually and I want them to progress and be baptized soooo badly. It's funny cuz you don't realize how much you love and cherish the gospel until you start teaching it to someone who doesn't know it. I really hope to see a baptism before the transfer ends because I care about these people so much.  Sister Jones and I have been working hard and we have found so many new people to teach! I've definitely changed a lot in a few weeks cuz I get genuinely excited to knock on someone's door, and I stand there hoping that they answer. I won't lie, the first week, I would feel a flood of relief if someone didn't answer their door😅 so I've come a long way!  I also love visiting p...
