Week 64

Well sister Oldroyd is shipped off to Chattanooga 😥 BUT I love my new companion, sister Chan! I'm glad I get to serve with her and we are having so much fun! This week it was really a struggle to get return appointments with the people we are teaching and holy moly, it is a never ending battle and it makes me want to lose my mind sometimes. I love these people so so much, but I get really tired if spending time trying to chase them down to have a lesson😂I just want to consistently teach someone, BUT it's not about what I want, it's about how God wants to use me as his hands. And I guess right now he is needing me to do a LOT of seed planting. After a long week of seed planting, I am eager to pick fruit, but unfortunately it takes a lot of time.
The beginning of the week consisted of going around and saying goodbye to people since sister Oldroyd is leaving. So we took a lot of pics with members and friends. I'm glad I'm not the one leaving because I am getting kind of attached to these members already! We went out to teach so many times this week because members wanted to talk us out.
I have a new panera addiction and I discovered their charged lemonades... They are so so good and I highly recommend (rip when I go back to Utah where the only panera is in the airport).
The RS had a big dinner and they made Cafe Rio salads!!! They were SPOT ON. It was so impressive and it tasted like I was eating the real thing! Expect for the tortilla... The tortilla didn't come close to actual Cafe Rio Tortillas. But it was still a definite highlight of my week!!
Ok ok on Sunday after church I walked out into the foyer and standing on the other side of the room was.... BROTHER DABELL!!!!!!!! My heart literally skipped a beat and I was shocked!!! It took everything in me not to run up and give him a hug! Sister dabell was there to and I gave her a hug hehe. It's been a long time (over a year actually) since I have see them! They were in my very first area (Crossville) and they were my favorite members! They were the ones that we would go to work on their farm every week and they would feed us massive meals. Man I miss them! So that was a super fun surprise!
Oh another highlight of the week was going to transfers because I got to see all my bestie missionaries!!!! Sister blackard is going home which is the strangest thing ever. She was my companion in Knoxville and we had a heck of a time together. We are 10000% hanging out after the mission and I am so excited to see all these people when I get home. Thinking about the end of my mission (which I did a lot this week and I don't know why) is a sitter sweet thing, but more sweet than bitter if I'm being honestly. I will be so so crushed to leave TN and all these people that I have grown to love, but i am so very excited to see what the next phase of my life has to offer. It's going to be fun and adventurous! Serving a mission is like going to home depot. You get new tools and skills and perspectives, but you can't shop for tools and equipment all day. You have to take them home and use them! That's when the magic happens. I'm excited to take everything that I've learned and apply it at home. I want to be the member that propels missionary work, even without the tag. Over the past year or so, I've gathered some pretty hefty power tools and I'm excited to take then home and see how much better my life can be when I use them.

Week 40

Not a lot happened this week, but it was supposed to be transfers, except for that I'm staying!! Side note, Sister Garbett's new companion (named sister Phillips) is SO awesome!! We actually have a lot in common and we have mutual friends from BYU and high school! Our little sisters are also so similar which is crazy, we both pulled up a picture and their outfits were almost the same hahaha.  But anyways, here are some cool things that I learned this week: --> Always always always follow promptings (if it's a good prompting, cuz if it's good, it's from God). Promptings are gateways for God to work miracles in our lives, but we have to act first. I'm still working on that, but I've seen it give me so much more confidence in the work I'm doing cuz I know that I'm not doing it alone:) --> Make friends and don't be afraid to share the gospel. When friendship comes first, sharing the gospel is a lot easier. That's one downfall with missionar...

Week 66

Hello everyone!! Happy late Easter! I hope everyone had an amazing Sunday, cuz I sure did!! Holidays on the mission are a little hard (for me at least), but this one was actually pretty good! The church service was amazing and it was PACKED. I felt like I was back in a Utah ward because there were so many people! Here are some reasons it was a great easter: Some friends we are teaching came to church! Donna who is a somewhat lonely older lady came and wore one of sister chan's dresses and she cried during the service and even sang one of the songs, which was huge. Donna is going through a lot right now, but I think she felt a moment of peace when she was at church.  Afterwards we went to the Gildays (a member that I'm close with ) to have lunch and a little scripture study. Isabel was there and that was fun hehe her and I are crazy. I don't know if I've "introduced" Isabel, but she is 19 and was just baptized in January. She moved here and almost i...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...
