Week 34

Transfers!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳 My new companion is Sister Kirkman and SHE. IS. AWESOME.🔥 This is her 2nd transfer, so I am 2nd half training her, but shes literally got everything down💪 I am in Hixson Tennessee near Chattanooga which is fun. We've have a random heat wave blow through and that has not been fun. I'm so ready to break out the sweaters! Also, our apartment has a roach problem... I opened up a drawer to get a spoon and a roach scurried into the depths of the drawer... I didn't try and find it. But besides that, this apartment is pretty nice!
Our district is pretty big too which will make Pdays really fun. There are 5 companionships in our district.
There are some amazing people here too. I really want to see a baptism while I'm here and I think there are lots of prepared people, we just need to be guides to them. So prayers for that would be very helpful!
Here was a cool thought from this week: We were talking to the wife of a Baptist preacher and we were talking about spreading the word. She said something that got me thinking and it was this: "Are you more burdened sharing the gospel, OR knowing that there are people who don't know Jesus?" It was cool to hear that because I find myself complaining in my head about missionary work and all the hard things, but when she said this, it was a good reminder of how missionary work really isn't about you at all. It's about the people you are touching and serving. I thought that was pretty cool.
Today is Sister Garnetts birthday too!!!!! We are spending the day with her and her comp which should be super fun!
Thanks again for all the support from everyone!❤️ Love you all!

Week 40

Not a lot happened this week, but it was supposed to be transfers, except for that I'm staying!! Side note, Sister Garbett's new companion (named sister Phillips) is SO awesome!! We actually have a lot in common and we have mutual friends from BYU and high school! Our little sisters are also so similar which is crazy, we both pulled up a picture and their outfits were almost the same hahaha.  But anyways, here are some cool things that I learned this week: --> Always always always follow promptings (if it's a good prompting, cuz if it's good, it's from God). Promptings are gateways for God to work miracles in our lives, but we have to act first. I'm still working on that, but I've seen it give me so much more confidence in the work I'm doing cuz I know that I'm not doing it alone:) --> Make friends and don't be afraid to share the gospel. When friendship comes first, sharing the gospel is a lot easier. That's one downfall with missionar...

Week 66

Hello everyone!! Happy late Easter! I hope everyone had an amazing Sunday, cuz I sure did!! Holidays on the mission are a little hard (for me at least), but this one was actually pretty good! The church service was amazing and it was PACKED. I felt like I was back in a Utah ward because there were so many people! Here are some reasons it was a great easter: Some friends we are teaching came to church! Donna who is a somewhat lonely older lady came and wore one of sister chan's dresses and she cried during the service and even sang one of the songs, which was huge. Donna is going through a lot right now, but I think she felt a moment of peace when she was at church.  Afterwards we went to the Gildays (a member that I'm close with ) to have lunch and a little scripture study. Isabel was there and that was fun hehe her and I are crazy. I don't know if I've "introduced" Isabel, but she is 19 and was just baptized in January. She moved here and almost i...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...
