Week 40

Not a lot happened this week, but it was supposed to be transfers, except for that I'm staying!! Side note, Sister Garbett's new companion (named sister Phillips) is SO awesome!! We actually have a lot in common and we have mutual friends from BYU and high school! Our little sisters are also so similar which is crazy, we both pulled up a picture and their outfits were almost the same hahaha.
But anyways, here are some cool things that I learned this week:
--> Always always always follow promptings (if it's a good prompting, cuz if it's good, it's from God). Promptings are gateways for God to work miracles in our lives, but we have to act first. I'm still working on that, but I've seen it give me so much more confidence in the work I'm doing cuz I know that I'm not doing it alone:)
--> Make friends and don't be afraid to share the gospel. When friendship comes first, sharing the gospel is a lot easier. That's one downfall with missionary work it you don't get a lot of time to develop friendships with everyone. But y'all have it easy.... You already have close friends and people who you know well. That is were missionary work is needed! Share by example and take every oppritunity to share something God wants them to know. Cuz guess what, God knows you know these people, and he knows they need the gospel. But most importantly, lead with love.
--> There is always something to learn from someone, even if you are more experienced than them. Pride gets in the way of this a LOT, especially in today's world when people never admit when they are wrong. But it's better to live life looking for things to learn from others instead of comparing yourself to others. Whether it's a crappy companion, basil marceaux, a brand new Greenie, or a baptist preacher, I can always take the opportunity to learn something. This makes every interaction worth it! Cuz everytime I am adding something to my knowledge, whether I like the person or not.
Those are some of the things I have learned, but still have a long ways to go!
This week we had exchanges which was MUCH needed, it was so fun. I went with Sister asay and it turns out we live like 6 blocks from each other in mapleton!! She moved there about 5 months ago which is why I didn't know her before, but I was friends with her cousins in high school! It was a fun day and the highlight of the day was getting a burrito at this place called DosBros and it's basically the closest to Cafe Rio that I got🥲 it was actually way good tho!! Chipotle, salsaritas, and DosBros are gonna have to get me thru until I can be reunited with cafe Rio and Costa Vida😂

But yeah!! Uneventful week, but lots of learning! The thousands (millions? Idk) of trees are starting to turn colors and it is really pretty! It's cooling off a ton which is a dreammmm. But fall time is making me really homesick cuz this is right around the time all fun things happen at home, including my birthday:) Fall is my favorite season and it's hard not being home for it🥺  but I hope all is well with everyone else on the other end! I love you all!!

Week 58

WOW THIS WEEK WAS AWESOME!! I love my new companion, and I love my new area, I love my new ward, I love my new (super fancy) apartment, I love EVERYTHING!!! I had so many highlights this week, so I'll just start listing them out in no specific order. I got to go to the Temple!!!!!!! 😆🤑🥳 Yall it's bee  SO long and it was the best feeling walking into the teeny tiny Nashville temple. It was the best feeling of "coming home". I BEG yall to not take the temple for granted. I will be spending all my free time there whenever I can. We went with a sweet lady named Shannon Adam's who was baptized recently with her kids. It was her first time going to the temple and we got to all do baptisms. She was so nervous and when we pulled up into the parking lot she showed me her shaking hands and said "I am so excited, but so nervous!" It was the sweetest thing ever. She enjoyed every second of it! I have only known her for a few days, but I already feel s...

Week 41

Hello everyone! another week down! Here are some cool things that happened this week: We went to go visit a lady named Kylene and she was really confused who we were, but after a while, it all of a sudden clicked and she just lit up saying how excited she was to come to church again! Apparently her grandma who passed away like 20 years ago was a member of the church and she used to go with her all the time! So everyone please pray for Kylene that she can feel welcomed and have a desire to learn and be baptized. She was so awesome and she has so much potential! So THANK YOU to all y'all who prayed for finding miracles, cuz it is working!!!  On Saturday we went to a fall festival in soddy daisy and there was this really nice guy working at a booth who bought us a funnel cake! He was so cool! Walking around all the markets and booths/tents, we got a lot of weird looks and we even had one guy call us nuns 😂 I said "almost, haha, we are missionaries!" That was my 3rd time be...

Week 64

Well sister Oldroyd is shipped off to Chattanooga 😥 BUT I love my new companion, sister Chan! I'm glad I get to serve with her and we are having so much fun! This week it was really a struggle to get return appointments with the people we are teaching and holy moly, it is a never ending battle and it makes me want to lose my mind sometimes. I love these people so so much, but I get really tired if spending time trying to chase them down to have a lesson😂I just want to consistently teach someone, BUT it's not about what I want, it's about how God wants to use me as his hands. And I guess right now he is needing me to do a LOT of seed planting. After a long week of seed planting, I am eager to pick fruit, but unfortunately it takes a lot of time. The beginning of the week consisted of going around and saying goodbye to people since sister Oldroyd is leaving. So we took a lot of pics with members and friends. I'm glad I'm not the one leaving because I am getting kind...
