Week 40

Not a lot happened this week, but it was supposed to be transfers, except for that I'm staying!! Side note, Sister Garbett's new companion (named sister Phillips) is SO awesome!! We actually have a lot in common and we have mutual friends from BYU and high school! Our little sisters are also so similar which is crazy, we both pulled up a picture and their outfits were almost the same hahaha.
But anyways, here are some cool things that I learned this week:
--> Always always always follow promptings (if it's a good prompting, cuz if it's good, it's from God). Promptings are gateways for God to work miracles in our lives, but we have to act first. I'm still working on that, but I've seen it give me so much more confidence in the work I'm doing cuz I know that I'm not doing it alone:)
--> Make friends and don't be afraid to share the gospel. When friendship comes first, sharing the gospel is a lot easier. That's one downfall with missionary work it you don't get a lot of time to develop friendships with everyone. But y'all have it easy.... You already have close friends and people who you know well. That is were missionary work is needed! Share by example and take every oppritunity to share something God wants them to know. Cuz guess what, God knows you know these people, and he knows they need the gospel. But most importantly, lead with love.
--> There is always something to learn from someone, even if you are more experienced than them. Pride gets in the way of this a LOT, especially in today's world when people never admit when they are wrong. But it's better to live life looking for things to learn from others instead of comparing yourself to others. Whether it's a crappy companion, basil marceaux, a brand new Greenie, or a baptist preacher, I can always take the opportunity to learn something. This makes every interaction worth it! Cuz everytime I am adding something to my knowledge, whether I like the person or not.
Those are some of the things I have learned, but still have a long ways to go!
This week we had exchanges which was MUCH needed, it was so fun. I went with Sister asay and it turns out we live like 6 blocks from each other in mapleton!! She moved there about 5 months ago which is why I didn't know her before, but I was friends with her cousins in high school! It was a fun day and the highlight of the day was getting a burrito at this place called DosBros and it's basically the closest to Cafe Rio that I got🥲 it was actually way good tho!! Chipotle, salsaritas, and DosBros are gonna have to get me thru until I can be reunited with cafe Rio and Costa Vida😂

But yeah!! Uneventful week, but lots of learning! The thousands (millions? Idk) of trees are starting to turn colors and it is really pretty! It's cooling off a ton which is a dreammmm. But fall time is making me really homesick cuz this is right around the time all fun things happen at home, including my birthday:) Fall is my favorite season and it's hard not being home for it🥺  but I hope all is well with everyone else on the other end! I love you all!!

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...

WEEK 6: Crossville, TN

This week flew by, which I guess is a good thing! To jump right into things, we are teaching quite a few people right now, and I can see 3 of them being baptized by the end of this transfer. I've been praying so hard about it, because I have developed such a strong love for them individually and I want them to progress and be baptized soooo badly. It's funny cuz you don't realize how much you love and cherish the gospel until you start teaching it to someone who doesn't know it. I really hope to see a baptism before the transfer ends because I care about these people so much.  Sister Jones and I have been working hard and we have found so many new people to teach! I've definitely changed a lot in a few weeks cuz I get genuinely excited to knock on someone's door, and I stand there hoping that they answer. I won't lie, the first week, I would feel a flood of relief if someone didn't answer their door😅 so I've come a long way!  I also love visiting p...

Week 28

This week was a wild one! We had transfers, 2 baptisms on sunday, and we went to a non denominational rock band church.  My new companion is Sister Goodman and she is AWESOME!! She has taught me what it really means to work hard!💪 I am thriving with her and I hope we get more than one transfer together!! Two cute kids named Madelyn and Landon were baptized on Sunday! They have been being taught for a while now and it was such a cute baptism!  We did a church song with one of our friends named mary, and so we got to go to her non-denominational church service! It was very different! I've never experienced anything quite like it, but it's cool to now understand what other people are talking about when they talk about their rock band churches 🥳 let's just say I had a headache for a few hours afterwards haha. Other than that, this week was a busy one full of teaching and planning! We are making a lot of progress with SMS and running the social media pages. It's a lot of w...
