Week 43

Week 43:

This week was full of a lot of random occurrences 😂 we did so much service this again week, but we got scammed by a lady in Ohio... She works for an insurance restoration company and long story short, she used us so she didn't have to pay landscapers for one of her projects, and it took us 8 hours. She said we weren't allowed to say we were from the church and to not wear our tags, and if any one asked, we should say we were from a landscaping company... It was so bad. And after 6 hours of backbreaking work (my back has never hurt so bad), the homeowner pulls up and starts complaining about what she doesn't like. Not cool... We were absolutely exhausted and pretty frustrated, and when we got home to finally rest for a second, our entire apartment reeked of weed. Like bad. It gave me a headache, but there wasn't anything we could have done about it. But we survived!
On a more positive note, we went to the Stewart-Walls house on Friday to carve pumpkins and have dinner and that was so much fun!! This family is one that I have grown really close to these last 2 transfers. The 2 girls love the missionaries and greet us like best friends. Their names are Xandra and Qelsi. We went to the ward trunk or treat, and that was so fun!! There was a pumpkin carving contest, and I got 3rd place😂 it was pretty funny. I got a trophy, but there was so sense in keeping it, so I signed the bottom of it and have it to Qelsi and Xandra 😂 they were so happy about it haha. We helped with the Poston's trunk and it is sponge Bob themed haha! My companion and I couldn't dress up as anything, so we just switched name tags for the day😂
We spent a lot of time with our friend named Sandy this week. Her son was in the hospital for a few days and she was there the entire time with him, so we stopped by for a little over an hour to give her some company and teach her. Then 2 days later we went over to her house and helped her with some yardwork. Her cute 5 year old granddaughter was there and I wish I could adopt her cuz she was the sweetest girl ever. She was only 5 but she already had a southern accent and it was adorable. She would come give me huge hugs and say "I love you!" When we left she yelled "bye y'all!" Haha it was cute.
Sister Garbett, Sister Phillips, and Sierra did the one chip challenge and it was SO entertaining😂😂😂 I am so glad I didn't do it, cuz they were in so much pain. I got the whole thing on video tho!😂
But yeah! I enjoyed this week! Sorry this email is all over the place, I'll include some good spiritual insight next week😅sorry y'all
Have a great week! Look for opportunities to share something happy this week:)

Week 40

Not a lot happened this week, but it was supposed to be transfers, except for that I'm staying!! Side note, Sister Garbett's new companion (named sister Phillips) is SO awesome!! We actually have a lot in common and we have mutual friends from BYU and high school! Our little sisters are also so similar which is crazy, we both pulled up a picture and their outfits were almost the same hahaha.  But anyways, here are some cool things that I learned this week: --> Always always always follow promptings (if it's a good prompting, cuz if it's good, it's from God). Promptings are gateways for God to work miracles in our lives, but we have to act first. I'm still working on that, but I've seen it give me so much more confidence in the work I'm doing cuz I know that I'm not doing it alone:) --> Make friends and don't be afraid to share the gospel. When friendship comes first, sharing the gospel is a lot easier. That's one downfall with missionar...

Week 66

Hello everyone!! Happy late Easter! I hope everyone had an amazing Sunday, cuz I sure did!! Holidays on the mission are a little hard (for me at least), but this one was actually pretty good! The church service was amazing and it was PACKED. I felt like I was back in a Utah ward because there were so many people! Here are some reasons it was a great easter: Some friends we are teaching came to church! Donna who is a somewhat lonely older lady came and wore one of sister chan's dresses and she cried during the service and even sang one of the songs, which was huge. Donna is going through a lot right now, but I think she felt a moment of peace when she was at church.  Afterwards we went to the Gildays (a member that I'm close with ) to have lunch and a little scripture study. Isabel was there and that was fun hehe her and I are crazy. I don't know if I've "introduced" Isabel, but she is 19 and was just baptized in January. She moved here and almost i...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...
