Week 45

Wow it got cold this week. I forgot how brutal cold humidity is and it only got down to 50๐Ÿ˜‚
First off, we had transfer calls!! I will be staying in Hixson (for the 3rd time!) and I'm an STL now too!! I'm so excited about everything! My new companion is named Sister Booth and this will be her last transfer. I haven't met her yet, but I will on Wednesday when we have transfers. I'm so excited!!! I'm excited to go on exchanges with other sisters every week!
Sad news.... I won't be with sister garbett anymore...๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ˜ฅ๐Ÿ˜ซ๐Ÿ˜“ This will be the first time since April that I won't be serving with her.... I don't even remember what it's like to be a missionary without her, but it sure sounds a lot less exciting, so I really hope I can quickly bond with the new missionaries. Of our entire district, only elder bluemel and I are staying. And out of the 4 sisters missionaries in the Hixson ward, I'm the only one staying๐Ÿ˜ญ. We are getting elders to replace sister garbett and sister Phillips... That also made the ward really sad๐Ÿ˜‚ it was pretty funny haha there were people that said "oh no, what did we do? They are punishing us with elders!!"๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ But anyways, this transfer is going to fly, I can feel it!
Our friends that we are teaching are doing really well! We planned out wilow's baptism and she is really excited for it! It's been a while since I've had a baptism, so I'm excited as well! Brian still hasn't come to church, and it's almost starting to get frustrating. But I am holding onto my patience so I'll continue to love him and love him and love him and love him, then maybe he will come ๐Ÿ˜‚ we are having a lesson with him tonight at a member's home, so we are hoping he can feel the spirit there and have a desire to feel the spirit more often in his life.

Classic southern story from this week:
We planned a 30 minutes visit at a member's house.
We didn't do any of the talking.
We were there for almost 3 hours.
End of story๐Ÿ˜‚ also at the end of our visit she says "I feel so bad for missionaries here. This is probably the most difficult mission ever cuz everyone is a stubborn Baptist and VERY set in their ways." That wasn't the most comforting, but it sure is true! I've had 5 baptism on my mission so far, and non of them were people who are from the south. One was from Kenya, the Philippines, Ohio, and another state that I don't remember. It's so hard to teach southerners. They are stubborn and they try to teach you. They are very kind and friendly tho! Every once in a while you'll get a rotten feller, but for the most part everyone is so friendly! We talked to so many people who were very uninterested in our church, but they always ask how we are doing, smile, and tell some of their life story. I could go on forever describing southern people, but I'll end it there๐Ÿ˜‚

On a completely different note, There is a member here who knows how much I love and miss Cafe Rio, so when we went over for dinner one night, she surprised me with homemade Cafe Rio!!!!! I was so happy, y'all have no idea. I have been dreaming about sweet pork and it tasted almost identical! I was so impressed ๐Ÿฅน it was such a happy day hehe

At district council on Tuesday, elder bluemel and elder Packard bought a huge confetti cannon and a present for me and shot it off when I was least expecting it and it literally filled the relief society room with confetti๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ then they gave me a very poorly wrapped present (๐Ÿ˜‚elders) and it was a weird caterpillar stuffed animal thing hahaha it was so random I literally couldn't stop laughing for like 5 minutes๐Ÿ˜‚ so that's was great!
But anyways! There is a lot happening this week, amd I'm excited! I'm happy to spend another transfer in this awesome ward and get to be here for Thanksgiving and Christmas!! Hixson has my heart ❤️

Week 69

This week had a lot of highs, and the lowest of lows. So we will start with the highs! We had a mission wide devotional with Neil L Anderson in Knoxville! This is the 3rd and final time on my mission that we have gathered as an entire mission in one Chapel!! There is something really special about being the all the missionaries in the whole mission. But obviously the best part was meeting one of the 12 apostles, getting to shake his hand, and then getting spiritually fed by him for a few hours. I recivied so much revelation (almost to the point where it is overwhelming), so I'm just looking back at little segments of my notes at a time, or else I will not know where to start, so I won't start ๐Ÿ˜‚ so I'm doing one thing at a time. I wish I could summarize all the thought I had into one paragraph, but that would be impossible. But boy was it cool! Before the devotional while we were in Knoxville we went and visited claire!!! She is that cute little Filipino that I taught and b...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...

Week 17

This has actually been a pretty awesome week! Miracles have definitely happened. One of the things that was the highlight, was that we were able to get our friend Claire on date to be baptized! Claire is the sweetest human ever. She is from the phillipines and was super curious about our church after the missionaries accidentally called her when they were given the wrong number by someone else. It has been so cool teaching her because when we first started teaching her, you could tell that there was a lot of confusion in her life and she was missing something. The more we taught her about the restored gospel, the more she got curious and excited to learn more. It was SO cool to witness that! She is doing so much studying on her own, and that has made her progression so much quicker. I love her soooo much!! On the flip side, I got so so so sick on tuesday and wednesday. Tuesday it was bad, I was struggling to breath on the couch during a zoom and I felt like garbage, so my comps said i ...
