Week 45

Wow it got cold this week. I forgot how brutal cold humidity is and it only got down to 50😂
First off, we had transfer calls!! I will be staying in Hixson (for the 3rd time!) and I'm an STL now too!! I'm so excited about everything! My new companion is named Sister Booth and this will be her last transfer. I haven't met her yet, but I will on Wednesday when we have transfers. I'm so excited!!! I'm excited to go on exchanges with other sisters every week!
Sad news.... I won't be with sister garbett anymore...😭😔🥺😥😫😓 This will be the first time since April that I won't be serving with her.... I don't even remember what it's like to be a missionary without her, but it sure sounds a lot less exciting, so I really hope I can quickly bond with the new missionaries. Of our entire district, only elder bluemel and I are staying. And out of the 4 sisters missionaries in the Hixson ward, I'm the only one staying😭. We are getting elders to replace sister garbett and sister Phillips... That also made the ward really sad😂 it was pretty funny haha there were people that said "oh no, what did we do? They are punishing us with elders!!"😂😂 But anyways, this transfer is going to fly, I can feel it!
Our friends that we are teaching are doing really well! We planned out wilow's baptism and she is really excited for it! It's been a while since I've had a baptism, so I'm excited as well! Brian still hasn't come to church, and it's almost starting to get frustrating. But I am holding onto my patience so I'll continue to love him and love him and love him and love him, then maybe he will come 😂 we are having a lesson with him tonight at a member's home, so we are hoping he can feel the spirit there and have a desire to feel the spirit more often in his life.

Classic southern story from this week:
We planned a 30 minutes visit at a member's house.
We didn't do any of the talking.
We were there for almost 3 hours.
End of story😂 also at the end of our visit she says "I feel so bad for missionaries here. This is probably the most difficult mission ever cuz everyone is a stubborn Baptist and VERY set in their ways." That wasn't the most comforting, but it sure is true! I've had 5 baptism on my mission so far, and non of them were people who are from the south. One was from Kenya, the Philippines, Ohio, and another state that I don't remember. It's so hard to teach southerners. They are stubborn and they try to teach you. They are very kind and friendly tho! Every once in a while you'll get a rotten feller, but for the most part everyone is so friendly! We talked to so many people who were very uninterested in our church, but they always ask how we are doing, smile, and tell some of their life story. I could go on forever describing southern people, but I'll end it there😂

On a completely different note, There is a member here who knows how much I love and miss Cafe Rio, so when we went over for dinner one night, she surprised me with homemade Cafe Rio!!!!! I was so happy, y'all have no idea. I have been dreaming about sweet pork and it tasted almost identical! I was so impressed 🥹 it was such a happy day hehe

At district council on Tuesday, elder bluemel and elder Packard bought a huge confetti cannon and a present for me and shot it off when I was least expecting it and it literally filled the relief society room with confetti😂😂 then they gave me a very poorly wrapped present (😂elders) and it was a weird caterpillar stuffed animal thing hahaha it was so random I literally couldn't stop laughing for like 5 minutes😂 so that's was great!
But anyways! There is a lot happening this week, amd I'm excited! I'm happy to spend another transfer in this awesome ward and get to be here for Thanksgiving and Christmas!! Hixson has my heart ❤️

Week 40

Not a lot happened this week, but it was supposed to be transfers, except for that I'm staying!! Side note, Sister Garbett's new companion (named sister Phillips) is SO awesome!! We actually have a lot in common and we have mutual friends from BYU and high school! Our little sisters are also so similar which is crazy, we both pulled up a picture and their outfits were almost the same hahaha.  But anyways, here are some cool things that I learned this week: --> Always always always follow promptings (if it's a good prompting, cuz if it's good, it's from God). Promptings are gateways for God to work miracles in our lives, but we have to act first. I'm still working on that, but I've seen it give me so much more confidence in the work I'm doing cuz I know that I'm not doing it alone:) --> Make friends and don't be afraid to share the gospel. When friendship comes first, sharing the gospel is a lot easier. That's one downfall with missionar...

Week 66

Hello everyone!! Happy late Easter! I hope everyone had an amazing Sunday, cuz I sure did!! Holidays on the mission are a little hard (for me at least), but this one was actually pretty good! The church service was amazing and it was PACKED. I felt like I was back in a Utah ward because there were so many people! Here are some reasons it was a great easter: Some friends we are teaching came to church! Donna who is a somewhat lonely older lady came and wore one of sister chan's dresses and she cried during the service and even sang one of the songs, which was huge. Donna is going through a lot right now, but I think she felt a moment of peace when she was at church.  Afterwards we went to the Gildays (a member that I'm close with ) to have lunch and a little scripture study. Isabel was there and that was fun hehe her and I are crazy. I don't know if I've "introduced" Isabel, but she is 19 and was just baptized in January. She moved here and almost i...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...
