Week 48 & 49

So sorry for missing last week! I was sicker than sick, so I slept all day and didn't have the time or energy to write a weekly... So it'll be double this time!

Week 48:
Sister Booth and I have been trying really hard to find new people to teach because we are kinda in a drought.. So we've been doing a lot of walking around and knocking doors, without too much luck yet. I am really motivated to find people, but it gets a little discouraging when you work for hours and hours a day and don't see any fruit from it. I'm hoping it will pick up soon because I know there are people here who are ready to hear the gospel!
On Thursday we went on exchanges (cuz we are the STLs now) and I got to spend the day with Sister Griffiths! We went to high school together and we are in the same stake! So that was super fun. We have very similar personalities so it was so fun to talk and have the day as comps:) on our exchange we taught this old lady named Linda in her bed and it was soooo cool. We started talking about the plan of salvation and brought up the book of Mormon and she kept saying how this all sounded so familiar. She was super excited to read the book of Mormon because she had never heard of it before. It was super cool!
On Friday after volleyball, I did the one chip challenge.... I swore to myself that I wouldn't do it, but I gave into peer pressure haha. We got all 4 of the elders to do it too and they were dyyyyinggg😂 it was so funny. My insides burned for like 2 days because of it😂 my spice tolerance is so low, so it was pretty brutal!
Overall, I was very happy this week. I am getting excited/pumped to find new people, and I love my companion with my whole heart. I am genuinely enjoying each day and I am having fun and finding joy in watching people learn about the gospel. Its really special when you get to watch someone change from not knowing what the book of Mormon is, to now having a testimony of it. It's addicting being a missionary 😆 You quite literally get a front row seat to the greatest work on earth.

Week 49:
I got super sick on Sunday and it hit me really hard on Tuesday, so we had to cancel district council and lessons so I could sleep. I always feel guilty taking time to rest, but my companion and District Leader insisted that I take a day to recover. So I did. I slept for almost 4 hours, then also slept through the entire night and slept in the next morning. But I got feeling better after that, so it's all good!
We had our ward Christmas party and that was so much fun! This ward is literally my favorite and everyone is so caring and kind. Sister Cooke bought us a nativity for our apartment which was so sweet!
I also got to go to Farragut this week!! You know what that means.... I got to see Elder Williams again!! We were there for MLC (missionary leadership council) and that was the most intimidating meeting ever. I don't know why, but I was so dang nervous the whole time. But it was cool to see the behing-the-scenes of everything that happens in leadership. It's a lot!
We also had interviews with president and we had a good talk about how to become even more deeply consecrated and be more of an example. He reminded me that other missionaries will now be looking at me as an example of what to be, so he said to be the best I can be. It was kind of intimidating, but I am determined to set a good example to all the missionaries that I will be serving around for the next 6 months. I am grateful that I get to serve with the leaders and be a leader, but I definitely feel inadequate. I've learned a lot these past few weeks!
But yeah, those have been my last 2 weeks! I'm loving it out here and I'm excited for Christmas!! I love y'all so much!

Week 40

Not a lot happened this week, but it was supposed to be transfers, except for that I'm staying!! Side note, Sister Garbett's new companion (named sister Phillips) is SO awesome!! We actually have a lot in common and we have mutual friends from BYU and high school! Our little sisters are also so similar which is crazy, we both pulled up a picture and their outfits were almost the same hahaha.  But anyways, here are some cool things that I learned this week: --> Always always always follow promptings (if it's a good prompting, cuz if it's good, it's from God). Promptings are gateways for God to work miracles in our lives, but we have to act first. I'm still working on that, but I've seen it give me so much more confidence in the work I'm doing cuz I know that I'm not doing it alone:) --> Make friends and don't be afraid to share the gospel. When friendship comes first, sharing the gospel is a lot easier. That's one downfall with missionar...

Week 66

Hello everyone!! Happy late Easter! I hope everyone had an amazing Sunday, cuz I sure did!! Holidays on the mission are a little hard (for me at least), but this one was actually pretty good! The church service was amazing and it was PACKED. I felt like I was back in a Utah ward because there were so many people! Here are some reasons it was a great easter: Some friends we are teaching came to church! Donna who is a somewhat lonely older lady came and wore one of sister chan's dresses and she cried during the service and even sang one of the songs, which was huge. Donna is going through a lot right now, but I think she felt a moment of peace when she was at church.  Afterwards we went to the Gildays (a member that I'm close with ) to have lunch and a little scripture study. Isabel was there and that was fun hehe her and I are crazy. I don't know if I've "introduced" Isabel, but she is 19 and was just baptized in January. She moved here and almost i...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...
