Week 65

Today I hit 15 months!!!🥳
Imma hop right in
A way cool part of this week!! So we got this online referral from this old guy who lives 40 minutes away and we decided to go visit him. He was on his porch when we pulled up, so we started talking to him and then this real tough tattooed up guy walks out and sits on a bench on the other side of the porch. Randomly he says "hey do yall have an extra book of Mormon on you that I can have?" I was shocked cuz we hadn't even been talking about anything church related. The he said "it's my all time favorite version of the bible, I just lost the last 2 that were given to me". So the first thing I did was explain that it's not a version of the bible lol and then I held a book of mormon in both my hands and I told him how much this book means to me and how much power are contained it the words, and I wouldn't give it to him until he committed to me that he would treat it like gold. When I finally gave it to him he gave it back to me and asked if I could write down all my favorite chapters in the back page for him to study. I got so excited and I wrote down the ones that popped very first into my head. Mosiah 18, Ether 12, Alma 32, and 3 Nephi 11. While I was writing them down he started talking and here are some of the things he said:
"my grandma was a mormon and she was amazing"
"If I were to get a tattoo, it would be the gold plates"
"I felt like I was a mormon in a life before this"
"I get to bring a Bible to jail, and this is going to be it"
"I wish they made a movie out of the book of mormon"
He was literally saying the coolest stuff and he was being serious too! He is going to go turn himself in and be in jail for a while, and he wants to read the book of mormon while he's in there. His life is going to CHANGE if he sticks to that! I don't think people fully understand the power of the book of mormon. I don't think I fully understand it. Its more than just words on a page, but those words can change the course of someones life, even when all other outside forces are pushing against. I've seen this!! It is true yall!!! I've seen someone who was once homeless and addicted now have a steady job, clear mind, control of their life, joy, all because they started to live by the teachings found in the book of mormon!! IT HAS POWER! So make sure that you are reading it every single day, I promise you won't regret it. And because it has so much power, we should look outside of ourselves and see who around us needs that power. Share with everyone around you the difference the book of mormon has made in your life, and never miss an oppritunity to testify of christ (recognize that?). So yeah, that's my soap box. I'll get off now.
The rest of the week was really good! It went by wicked fast and I absolutely loved conference weekend. We spent both sessions at different members houses and there was lots of food! Saturday we were at the Gooch's and Sunday we were at the Gildays. I was inspired by the focus on being a peacemaker. It's interesting how that was a clear theme from all the sessions. We all have a lot to learn!!
I huge win from this week was I wasn't extremely tired like I have been in the past!! This is HUGE. By like 12, I was fully awake and I didn't dread staying awake like I have been for the last 6ish months. I honestly forgot what it's like to not be completely exahsted, and I like it! Hopefully I can maintain that energy without relying on outside sources.. Cuz missionary life is a lot more enjoyable when you aren't fighting miserable fatigue. So we will see how long this lasts!
I love yall so much!! Thanks for everything!

Week 69

This week had a lot of highs, and the lowest of lows. So we will start with the highs! We had a mission wide devotional with Neil L Anderson in Knoxville! This is the 3rd and final time on my mission that we have gathered as an entire mission in one Chapel!! There is something really special about being the all the missionaries in the whole mission. But obviously the best part was meeting one of the 12 apostles, getting to shake his hand, and then getting spiritually fed by him for a few hours. I recivied so much revelation (almost to the point where it is overwhelming), so I'm just looking back at little segments of my notes at a time, or else I will not know where to start, so I won't start 😂 so I'm doing one thing at a time. I wish I could summarize all the thought I had into one paragraph, but that would be impossible. But boy was it cool! Before the devotional while we were in Knoxville we went and visited claire!!! She is that cute little Filipino that I taught and b...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...

Week 17

This has actually been a pretty awesome week! Miracles have definitely happened. One of the things that was the highlight, was that we were able to get our friend Claire on date to be baptized! Claire is the sweetest human ever. She is from the phillipines and was super curious about our church after the missionaries accidentally called her when they were given the wrong number by someone else. It has been so cool teaching her because when we first started teaching her, you could tell that there was a lot of confusion in her life and she was missing something. The more we taught her about the restored gospel, the more she got curious and excited to learn more. It was SO cool to witness that! She is doing so much studying on her own, and that has made her progression so much quicker. I love her soooo much!! On the flip side, I got so so so sick on tuesday and wednesday. Tuesday it was bad, I was struggling to breath on the couch during a zoom and I felt like garbage, so my comps said i ...
