Week 71

It's been 7 days folks. 7 long days. I think this week was long because I'm still not adjusted to the area and I don't know the ward too well. But that will change!! (hopefully soon).
We had some good lessons with the people we are teaching which is always refreshing! We taught an entire Plan of Salvation lesson to our friend Ann and WOW she just soaked in the whole thing. She said that she has had some thoughts throughout her life that line up perfectly with what the plan of salvation teaches, she just didn't know that there was actually doctrine about it! She was beaming and smiling as we taught it and she said she wished she has known this her whole life because she feels so much more hope and motivation with this knew knowledge. It was so cool!! So moral of the story, never take for granted your knowledge of the plan of salvation. If you currently don't find added hope and motivation through the plan, go and study it more until you do. It's amazing, and I am reminded of that every time I get to teach it!
We also found this SUPER cool guy named HB Beverly (you can look him up on YouTube haha he's a musician!) and started teaching him!! He just finished the Bible a few week ago and he has read 20 chapters of the book of mormon, then we knocked on his door! We taught the restoration and he seemed to grasp most of it and it's all new to him! But he loves learning. We went over twice this week and he sang some songs for us on his guitar! It was so sweet and I was in heaven!! He has a good classic country deep voice and I could have listened to him all day long. He also had a little dog named Macy who I give milkbones everytime I come over haha. He is just so cool and I feel like I was buddies with HB in the premortal life.
Oh we also got to do service on a HUGE strawberry farm!! It was so fun and really dirty cuz we were cutting off a ton of strawberries that were Moldy. But we got to take home some boxes of strawberries which was so good cuz I feel like I rarely get to eat berries (#missionarybudget). That was super fun!
We also did service at a food bank and I got asked if my teeth were real 😂 I took it as a compliment hahaha!
I got to talk to my family on Sunday for mothers day and that was the most fun phone call ever!! It was mostly mom Haley and raimie and wow we are crazy😂 I love laughing with the gals and I'm excited to hang out with them soon! I love my mom and I'm so thankful for her example and her crazy spunky party personality! Happy mothers day to all the mother figures out there!!
Today we are driving to North Carolina (about a 2 hour drive) to stay in a hotel and then drive 3 more hours tomorrow to south Carolina to go to the temple!!!!! We are going with 2 entire zones, so when we meet up in NC tomorrow, we will all take a big bus together and it's gonna be so much fun!! I'm so excited!! We are heading to NC with the 4 of us today that way we can explore and go to a cool restaurant. It's like a little vacation /sleepover!! I'm SO excited to go to the temple!!!!!

Week 40

Not a lot happened this week, but it was supposed to be transfers, except for that I'm staying!! Side note, Sister Garbett's new companion (named sister Phillips) is SO awesome!! We actually have a lot in common and we have mutual friends from BYU and high school! Our little sisters are also so similar which is crazy, we both pulled up a picture and their outfits were almost the same hahaha.  But anyways, here are some cool things that I learned this week: --> Always always always follow promptings (if it's a good prompting, cuz if it's good, it's from God). Promptings are gateways for God to work miracles in our lives, but we have to act first. I'm still working on that, but I've seen it give me so much more confidence in the work I'm doing cuz I know that I'm not doing it alone:) --> Make friends and don't be afraid to share the gospel. When friendship comes first, sharing the gospel is a lot easier. That's one downfall with missionar...

Week 66

Hello everyone!! Happy late Easter! I hope everyone had an amazing Sunday, cuz I sure did!! Holidays on the mission are a little hard (for me at least), but this one was actually pretty good! The church service was amazing and it was PACKED. I felt like I was back in a Utah ward because there were so many people! Here are some reasons it was a great easter: Some friends we are teaching came to church! Donna who is a somewhat lonely older lady came and wore one of sister chan's dresses and she cried during the service and even sang one of the songs, which was huge. Donna is going through a lot right now, but I think she felt a moment of peace when she was at church.  Afterwards we went to the Gildays (a member that I'm close with ) to have lunch and a little scripture study. Isabel was there and that was fun hehe her and I are crazy. I don't know if I've "introduced" Isabel, but she is 19 and was just baptized in January. She moved here and almost i...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...
