Week 72

I got to go to the temple!!!!!!!!! We went with the entire Kingsport zone and Asheville zone, so there was a little over 50 missionaries there! We took a 2 hour road trip and 6 of us sisters met up in Ashville the night before and walked around downtown Ashville (which was SO FUN) and then we went to a taco shop for dinner. Then we went to our hotel, checked in, then played card games in the lobby until we had to go to bed. It was literally SO much fun, I felt like I was on a little mini vacation! The next morning we woke up at 4:45 and got on a big bus with 50 other missionaries and drove 3 more hours to South Carolina! I sat right behind president Graham so we got to talkin and that was really fun. During the whole trip we passed through Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. When we got to the temple we split into 4 groups and then got to do an endowment, initiatories, and sealings! It was such a good refresher because I haven't gone in so so so long. Well over a year. Which is WAY too long. There was just such a special familiar spirit in the temple and I didn't realize how much I missed it until I went back. I never want to distance myself from the temple, because the peace I feel in there I know I can't find anywhere else or even find a feeling close to it. It was amazing! It was also neat knowing that the only people in the temple besides the temple workers were full-time consecrated missionaries of the lord. Never again in my life will I ever get to experience that. So I did my best to soak in every second! The bus ride back I was extremely tired but couldn't fall asleep, but once we got back to North Carolina I was feeling pretty good. Before we started our 2-hour trip back to Virginia, we stopped and got smoothies at Tropical Smoothie Cafe which I haven't had since before the mission!! So that was a super fun treat:)
I also went on exchanges with Sister Wiser on Saturday and that was much needed and super fun!! It was a crazy day and we met some wayyy cool people in a tiny town of 600 people. The town was called Damascus and I want to go back haha it was the cutest little town!
We also started teaching this lady named makayla and WOW she is so prepared!! We introduced the book of mormon to her and her 11 year old son and they were SO excited to have their own copy! It made my heart so happy to give my most favorite book to someone who I knew would treat it like gold. That's how it should be!! So I'm super excited to teach them again on Tuesday!!
This week I was just super focused on the book of mormon and it has made a big difference on my enthusiasm and energy! Kinda crazy that helped, but it did! I put more effort into studying it, and I put more effort into testifying about the Book of mormon. Note to self: studying the book of mormon is natural caffeine :) I can't afford to go a day without studying it.
We have lots coming up this week, lots of good lessons planned and my very last zone conference! Kinda crazy! I'll be doing my departing testimony which doesn't feel real, and I have no idea what I'll say, but we'll see!
I hope everyone has an amazing week! Thank you for all the prayers, they are felt! These last few weeks I would love for the all the prayers to be dedicated to the people I am teaching and the people who I need to find before I head out. That will make a huge difference!! So thank you in advance! ❤️❤️❤️
I LOVE YALL TONS

Week 40

Not a lot happened this week, but it was supposed to be transfers, except for that I'm staying!! Side note, Sister Garbett's new companion (named sister Phillips) is SO awesome!! We actually have a lot in common and we have mutual friends from BYU and high school! Our little sisters are also so similar which is crazy, we both pulled up a picture and their outfits were almost the same hahaha.  But anyways, here are some cool things that I learned this week: --> Always always always follow promptings (if it's a good prompting, cuz if it's good, it's from God). Promptings are gateways for God to work miracles in our lives, but we have to act first. I'm still working on that, but I've seen it give me so much more confidence in the work I'm doing cuz I know that I'm not doing it alone:) --> Make friends and don't be afraid to share the gospel. When friendship comes first, sharing the gospel is a lot easier. That's one downfall with missionar...

Week 66

Hello everyone!! Happy late Easter! I hope everyone had an amazing Sunday, cuz I sure did!! Holidays on the mission are a little hard (for me at least), but this one was actually pretty good! The church service was amazing and it was PACKED. I felt like I was back in a Utah ward because there were so many people! Here are some reasons it was a great easter: Some friends we are teaching came to church! Donna who is a somewhat lonely older lady came and wore one of sister chan's dresses and she cried during the service and even sang one of the songs, which was huge. Donna is going through a lot right now, but I think she felt a moment of peace when she was at church.  Afterwards we went to the Gildays (a member that I'm close with ) to have lunch and a little scripture study. Isabel was there and that was fun hehe her and I are crazy. I don't know if I've "introduced" Isabel, but she is 19 and was just baptized in January. She moved here and almost i...

Week 74

Alrighty, here I am again. This was MIRACLE filled week. It had its ups and downs, but I'm going to focus on the ups! So first of all, the big miracle is James!!! This has got to be the most prepared person I have ever met on my entire mission! Not an exaggeration! I can't remember exactly what I've said about him in the past, so here's a little summary. We were walking around a neighborhood last Sunday after church and we decided to knock his door. He was really nice, so we came back on Tuesday to do a Bible study. Then we lost contact with him for the rest of the week. BUT he showed up to church on Sunday!!! We were so shocked!! Then he came to church AGAIN and he had read all the way up to Jacob, and he knew everything about the saints leaving to Utah, their history, everything about Joseph Smith and Emma Smith, and a bunch of other random facts! He said he knew Joseph Smith was called of God and he never wanted to stop coming to our church because he said it feels ...
