Week 19

I actually really enjoyed this week!! We got a lot done and it went by quickly. We taught so many lessons and we got to talk to tons of people with all sorts of different backgrounds. One of my favorite things to do as a missionary is to visit less active members. I don't know what it is about it, but its definitely at the top of my list of favorite things to do. I love hearing their stories and helping them come back to the safe and peaceful environment that the church offers. So I made lots of time this week to visit them! This week wasn't too eventful, other than having exchanges and getting yelled at by a lady that told us to never come back to the apartment again😅 (we're going back cuz we are teaching someone in the apartment complex). Oh and we had zone conference on Tuesday! It was my 3rd zone conference, which means I have 9 left. Kinda crazy!  I really love this area, and I'm becoming very attached to the people. I'm hoping to stay at least another transfe...

Week 18

This was a good week! I was really bad about journaling, so I can't quite remember exactly everything that happened, but here's a few things:) 1) We got a new branch presidency for the YSA and the president is super cool! He comes to all the activities which is fun! 2) there is a less active family that we went and visited last week, and we talked with the mom for a little bit, and she was going thru a lot. She mentioned her birthday being on the 6th, so we came back this week and brought her a card and some flowers, and it made her so happy! It was really sweet to see:) serving is addicting!  3) we also drove a while to go visit someone in our area book who we have never meet to give her a cookie pie and she how she'd doing. She was so touched that we came to visit, and we even got to come back a few days later to have a lesson with her! Her name is Kayla and she is a young single mother of a year old baby and she is seriously the sweetest girl ever. I really hope she prog...

Week 17

This has actually been a pretty awesome week! Miracles have definitely happened. One of the things that was the highlight, was that we were able to get our friend Claire on date to be baptized! Claire is the sweetest human ever. She is from the phillipines and was super curious about our church after the missionaries accidentally called her when they were given the wrong number by someone else. It has been so cool teaching her because when we first started teaching her, you could tell that there was a lot of confusion in her life and she was missing something. The more we taught her about the restored gospel, the more she got curious and excited to learn more. It was SO cool to witness that! She is doing so much studying on her own, and that has made her progression so much quicker. I love her soooo much!! On the flip side, I got so so so sick on tuesday and wednesday. Tuesday it was bad, I was struggling to breath on the couch during a zoom and I felt like garbage, so my comps said i ...

Week 16

I got to go to the temple!!! It was the highlight of my mission so far. I can't explain the happiness I felt there. I cried pretty hard walking out of the temple, cuz I didn't want to leave. It's so peaceful and worry-free in the temple, and I wish I could have sat in there for forever. We got to go because Sam was going through for her first time and she wanted me to come with her (and of course, if I go my companions come with me). So I got to be her escort which was the coolest experience ever!  I felt so lucky that I had that opportunity. The next time I have that opportunity probably won't be until I have my own kid going through, which won't be for another 25 years or so. So I soaked up the entire experience! There were many tears and lots of smiles:) the drive there and back was a total of 5 hours, but with stops and dinner, it was about 7 hours of traveling.  So for those of you near a temple, DONT take it for...

week 15

Sister Christensen is gone😥 being in a trio is a lot different but it is so much fun!  This week has been a lot of teaching and feeling like I'm a chicken with my head cut off. I know I'm working hard, but it's getting really overwhelming having to run the area. My companions are following my lead cuz I know that area and I have to train them how to do ads, and it's hard haha. Once 9 hits, I'm so mentally tired that I fall asleep at my desk. But I'm grateful everyday for the small successes, cuz there are several failures throughout the day😅 it amazes me that president Graham and God trust me to do what I'm doing, cuz I feel so underqualified sometimes. But it's a good thing I have the best companions to keep me going thru the day!! This entire week I feel like God blessed me with eyes to see potential in people. I visited a lot of inactive members and and I made a list of the people I could see going to the temple for the first time this transfer. It ...

week 14

Transfer calls!!!!! Quick story time, remember back to the first night i flew to Knoxville and I was having a super rough time feeling ignored by the other missionaries at the airport, and then i spent that night in the hotel with Sister Garbett and she made me feel so much better because she was so kind, caring and funny? And remember when I went on exchanges last transfer with Sister Williams and we had everything in common and I said it was the most fun day of my entire mission? Well..... IM GOING TO BE IN A TRIO WITH BOTH OF THEM!!!!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳 I am so excited!!!! This is going to be a wild transfer 😆  On the other hand, it has been sad having to sister Christensen get ready to leave. We have had some really good times and she has taught me SO much about what it means to work HARD💪 OK so some pretty awesome stuff happened this week! We had an awesome lesson with shirly and joann and the spirit totally hijacked the lesson. We were going to teach plan of salvation, but then whe...

WEEK 13

This week was amazing!!! General conference was the cherry on top. Aaaaand KNOXVILLE IS GETTING A TEMPLE!!!!!!! We were watching conference at a members house when they announced it and Sister Christensen and I jumped up and started cheering. The members we were with started crying and cheering. The people here in Knoxville area have been praying for years to get a temple. It has been a normal part of the prayers, asking for a temple. And it worked!!!!! We saw the property it is going to be built on too, and it is going to be beautiful. Sister Christensen is going home next week, and I'll be home by the time this temple is completed, but we said that we will come back for the temple open house! Maybe we can have a mission reunion for the open house haha that would be so much fun! It was such a cool experience to see the excitement of the members when they announced the temple. I miss going to the temple so much. I'm a missionary dedicating 24 hours a day to the lord, 7 days a w...

week 12

This week was a good one! Sorry this email is very short, but i will be sure to write more next week! We stayed super busy, but we saw little miracles all throughout the week. I got to talk to lots of people this week which is amazing. I've really learned to appreciate kind people that will talk to strangers. It makes such a big difference in my day when a stranger will talk. So be that person!! Be that stranger that makes someone smile! It goes a long ways:)  I got lots of emails from friends and family today and it made me SO happy. Hearing from everyone made me so happy! I'll share more stories next week, but I'm out of time! I love you all!
