Week 69

This week had a lot of highs, and the lowest of lows. So we will start with the highs! We had a mission wide devotional with Neil L Anderson in Knoxville! This is the 3rd and final time on my mission that we have gathered as an entire mission in one Chapel!! There is something really special about being the all the missionaries in the whole mission. But obviously the best part was meeting one of the 12 apostles, getting to shake his hand, and then getting spiritually fed by him for a few hours. I recivied so much revelation (almost to the point where it is overwhelming), so I'm just looking back at little segments of my notes at a time, or else I will not know where to start, so I won't start 😂 so I'm doing one thing at a time. I wish I could summarize all the thought I had into one paragraph, but that would be impossible. But boy was it cool! Before the devotional while we were in Knoxville we went and visited claire!!! She is that cute little Filipino that I taught and b...

Week 68

This was a good good week! We spent a lot of time in Gainsboro which was fun! We don't get to go up there very often but I love it when we do! I didn't know if I've explained a little bit of Gainesboro, but it is a teeny tiny town about 40 minutes out of Cookeville and it's quite literally in the middle of nowhere. Everyone there is related or married. We talked to this one guy that said in high school it was really hard to meet girls because they were all cousins😂 so he jokes that he married his wife cuz it was the only girl in town that he wasn't related to 😂😂 Gainesboro has a population under 1000 and the people who live there were usually raised there. It's like one of those towns that you see in movies haha its so awesome. Sister Henry drove us up there in her old jeep and she gave us bandanas to tie our hair down😂 we went around visiting a bunch of people and there was this one lady who hasn't had contact with the church in 8 years that we stopped ...

Week 67

This  week  was another blur... I hope the  weeks  slow down because they are going by so scarily fast!! I went on 2 exchanges this  week , so that is probably part of the reason. I spent Tuesday in Lebanon with Sister Stroud (who's parents own property in Mapleton and are going to eventually build and move there!!). It was really fun and it is always refreshing to go out and spend a day in someone else's neighborhood. It is a Spanish area, so during all the lessons I just sat there smiling cuz I don't speak Spanish 😂 there was one lady that we taught who only spoke Spanish, so sister stroud taught her while I played with their little shih tzu that looked a lot like gizmo 😍 it was amazing hehe I just got to let him for like 20 minutes😂 I also went on exchanges with Sister Morrell and it was an overnight exchange, so I got to spend the day and night in Knoxville!! Knoxville has a special place in my heart, it was good to be back. Sister Morrell and I go home t...

Week 66

Hello everyone!! Happy late Easter! I hope everyone had an amazing Sunday, cuz I sure did!! Holidays on the mission are a little hard (for me at least), but this one was actually pretty good! The church service was amazing and it was PACKED. I felt like I was back in a Utah ward because there were so many people! Here are some reasons it was a great easter: Some friends we are teaching came to church! Donna who is a somewhat lonely older lady came and wore one of sister chan's dresses and she cried during the service and even sang one of the songs, which was huge. Donna is going through a lot right now, but I think she felt a moment of peace when she was at church.  Afterwards we went to the Gildays (a member that I'm close with ) to have lunch and a little scripture study. Isabel was there and that was fun hehe her and I are crazy. I don't know if I've "introduced" Isabel, but she is 19 and was just baptized in January. She moved here and almost i...

Week 65

Today I hit 15 months!!!🥳 Imma hop right in A way cool part of this week!! So we got this online referral from this old guy who lives 40 minutes away and we decided to go visit him. He was on his porch when we pulled up, so we started talking to him and then this real tough tattooed up guy walks out and sits on a bench on the other side of the porch. Randomly he says "hey do yall have an extra book of Mormon on you that I can have?" I was shocked cuz we hadn't even been talking about anything church related. The he said "it's my all time favorite version of the bible, I just lost the last 2 that were given to me". So the first thing I did was explain that it's not a version of the bible lol and then I held a book of mormon in both my hands and I told him how much this book means to me and how much power are contained it the words, and I wouldn't give it to him until he committed to me that he would treat it like gold. When I finally gave it to him h...

Week 64

Well sister Oldroyd is shipped off to Chattanooga 😥 BUT I love my new companion, sister Chan! I'm glad I get to serve with her and we are having so much fun! This week it was really a struggle to get return appointments with the people we are teaching and holy moly, it is a never ending battle and it makes me want to lose my mind sometimes. I love these people so so much, but I get really tired if spending time trying to chase them down to have a lesson😂I just want to consistently teach someone, BUT it's not about what I want, it's about how God wants to use me as his hands. And I guess right now he is needing me to do a LOT of seed planting. After a long week of seed planting, I am eager to pick fruit, but unfortunately it takes a lot of time. The beginning of the week consisted of going around and saying goodbye to people since sister Oldroyd is leaving. So we took a lot of pics with members and friends. I'm glad I'm not the one leaving because I am getting kind...

Week 63

Heyall!! Not to disappoint or anything, but this week wasn't quite as crazy as last week, but it was still great! We got transfer news on Saturday, and I will be staying in Cookeville!!! I'll be getting a new companion tho which is really sad, but I've heard really good things about her! Her name is Sister Chan and she is from Provo Utah. She was on the SMS team for a long time like I was!! So that'll be something we can bond with and reminisce about haha. I miss those days! I'm excited to meet her on Wednesday🥳 Oh random thing, a member gave us Goose eggs, and that was cool. One egg made a giant breakfast burrito haha! I also got to call home on Wednesday and on Thursday! Wednesday was zachs birthday and Thursday was mckays birthday! Those were the most fun video calls ever because everyone was on, and that is really rare that I get to talk to all my family all at once! I love my family haha, they are crazy🤪 I'm...
